Crowned by nature

Description about painting:

“He was born to be a king after all!

He was sitting on his throne, when the sun raised and touched his golden crown.”

The “Elk” and the elements of the nature in the background has been photographed separately from different part of the world such as yellow stone national park, USA and Wayand, India.

The images are combined together along with additional creative elements added by the artist to bring out the real mood of the artwork.

The main subject of the painting “Elk” casually sitting and gazing has been painted in a photorealistic style to allow the audience to feel the grace and elegance of a wild animal in its kingdom. The glimpse of light rays falling on the fur and huge antlers is meant to divert the audience focus to the main subject.

Since forest or nature is always an integral habitat for animals, the combination of trees and leaves in a foggy scene with black background has been chosen to convey depth, moody and mysterious feeling that nature creates to the audience.  As light rays cut the fog and nature, the real habitat is also replicated in the artwork.

The techniques used in this artwork are wet in wet, dry brush and layered to give a perfect color combination and a realistic image with great detailing which has made the artwork more appealing. Most challenging part of the artwork was to paint and render true to life texture of the Elk fur. To add depth and realism to the subject, individual strands of fur are arranged in multiple layers with different color tones, created by the sun rays.
